The AGM was held in the chapel of the Palace - the only part of the original 'Castle' to survive. Lady Joan Appleyard chaired proceedings and gave the Chairman's Report. Gillian Coles and Corinne Bennett gave their accounts of, respectively, the Ride and Stride and of grants made to churches. The Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Mary Fagan JP, was formally commissioned as President of Hampshire and the Islands Historic Churches Trust and was presented with a watercolour of King's Somborne, St Peter & St Paul, painted by Caroline Hervey-Bathurst who also attended the event.
Formal proceedings were followed by a talk by the Bishop on the history of the Palace and a a conducted tour of the Bishops' Portraits in Wolvesey Palace - including the Bishop's own introduction to the portrait of Richard Foxe, Bishop from 1448-1528, which hangs in his study. A convivial supper was served afterwards.
Our very grateful thanks to Mrs Lou Scott-Joynt and Bishop Michael for welcoming us to their home and for providing the celebratory meal .
