About Ride & Stride

More than 30 counties throughout England (and more recently Wales) are involved in the sponsored Ride & Stride, which takes place each year on the second Saturday of September.

The Hampshire County Co-ordinator has a team of Area Co-ordinators who in turn liaise with Churches Representatives in their ‘patch’.

The sponsored Ride & Stride involves historic churches of all denominations although, for convenience, the areas correspond to the Hampshire Anglican Deaneries.

Beginning in the spring, all members of the team work together so that, in good time for Ride & Stride, everything is in place to make the day a success. This involves gathering information, compiling a List of Participating Churches within the county (click here for this year’s list) and distributing all the necessary paperwork.

Following the event, the Hon. Treasurer of the Trust returns 50% of the money raised by each person to his or her nominated church or churches. Over recent years, reclaiming Gift Aid from the Inland Revenue has greatly boosted the totals raised.
